Interesting choice of words by the Associated Press.
More than a thousand people jammed the streets to see McCain and the Alaska governor…
“More than a thousand?” People going in had to register, so there is a hard count of the people who were inside. 12,500. It’s anyone’s guess at how many were outside and couldn’t get in. Why would the AP so blatantly low-ball the number?
I couldn’t believe that 1,000 quote either.
No question we are in a media war right now. The past two weeks have been fascinating to watch. I don’t think MSNBC/NBC/CBS/etc. understand any of it. They all seem to be very confused why they’ve now become an issue in this campaign. To most of us, the answer is obvious. They’ve always been as slanted to the left as Fox News is to the right.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on September 05, 2008 at 2001 hrsIt probably was the same AP stringer who was at State Fair Park 4 years ago and sent out a false AP report about President Bush’s appearance (also the first day the nominee appeared after the convention.) That report stated that the crowd booed when President Bush announced that President Clinton had just had heart surgery, when all that had happened was a gasp.

Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on September 05, 2008 at 2048 hrsThat’s what I thought, too, Cornroaster. I was at that rally in 04 s well, and yes, it was a blatant lie about the supposed booing. But now at least I know where Fox news got the 1K quote in the crawl under the rally video clips this afternoon; they took it from AP. I expected better from them.

Posted by Dean on September 05, 2008 at 2125 hrsThere was no way to verify without rally-attending ID laws. I think some of them signed under multiple names. I declare fraud.

The same way they said that people were cheering when W. announced that Bill Clinton was admitted to a hospital for a heart condition. I was at that event with my son.
It never happened. We cheered when W. said let’s all keep him in our prayers for a swift recovery.
Easy to get that reversed, if you are working for Pravda.
