Assembly Passes Castle Doctrine Bill

Excellent. Let’s push this bipartisan bill the rest of the way into law.

A resident facing an intruder in his or her dwelling would have greater latitude to use force, without fear of criminal prosecution or civil liability, under a bill passed by the state Assembly on Tuesday.

The proposal, passed on a bipartisan 71-24 vote, is called “the castle doctrine,” from the saying “one’s home is one’s castle.” Twenty-nine states already have similar legislation, according to the National Rifle Association.

  1. I can’t wait to hear the story about the little kid coming into someone’s house getting shot. Could be a convenient way to get rid of a spouse too. The house was dark….he didn’t say anything….I was scared…..

  2. Can’t wait, huh?  That is one sick way to say ‘gotcha’ to a Republican.’  And whew!  Finally a good way to get rid of a spouse, because there never were until now in Wisconsin.  Sick, dude.

The disturbing part of this legislation is that it was ever needed in the first place.  You break and enter with unknown force at your disposal, and liberals like Dave think the ciminal should have the right to sue the homeowner and the city because he cut himself on the window he broke to get in and it got infected from police neglect.

No, you abrogate all rights, including right to life if you force entry in to another person’s home.  Security on a closed business(thievery with no intent to injure) is a different situation.  Going through an unlocked door after knocking and calling out as you do (with a witness) is a different situation.  The castle doctrine as a centuries old unwritten law was alway meant for forcrd entry Dave.  If ‘the little kid’ threw bricks through your window or fired his gang brother’s gun through the window before entering your house, one of your potential last thoughts would likely be: Huh, the castle doctrine makes some sense after all.

  3. Dave - unless your definition of a little kid is a 16 year old whacked out on drugs busting into your house looking to score in any number of ways… I think your fears are unjustified.

  4. Welcome to Texconsin.

For one, it would be Texiconsin.  The ‘i’ is important, signifying the linguistic cultural heritage of the state’s name, which comes to us via Mexico (see the ‘i’ in the middle there?) and the Caddo tribe.

You’re really putting’ the hate on the minorities there, Dave, denying them their cultural identify.  Cut it out.

For two, I, for one, can’t wait.

Wisconsin is okay.  I’ve come to like watching the Packers play, win or loose.  I’ll take August in Green Bay over August in Dallas anyday.

But let’s face it: we don’t know how to make chili.  And our idea of Tex-Mex is not what it could be.

We need Texiconson, if only for the cuisine.

  6. You haven’t had my sister’s chili…

Does she put noodles in her chili?  ‘Cause that’s a deal-breaker, right there.

  7. Ugh, no noodles, just a great mix of stew meat beef, shredded pork, habanero, jalapeno peppers, two types of beans, etc.  I think the mix of meats is what gives such a great flavor.

Try bringing it all together in a bacon/chorizo base TQ:)

    Yummy:):):)

  9. It is my firm opinion that virtually no food creation can go wrong by adding bacon…
