Arizona To Allow Concealed Carry in Bars

Excellent!

The Arizona Senate has given final approval to a bill that would allow people with concealed weapons permits to carry a gun into a business that serves alcohol.

The 19-8 vote completes legislative action on the bill and sends it to Republican Gov. Jan Brewer. She has not said whether she will sign it, but she has long been a supporter of gun rights.

Before the anti-gun nuts chime in… remember that we are not talking about people being allowed to drink while carrying a weapon.  We are talking about allowing a sober person to carry a weapon in an establishment that sells alcohol.  For example, one could go to dinner at the Texas Roadhouse with a weapon and have a nice steak with some iced tea.

I would also point out that many states already have this and the dire predictions of blood streaming under the stools at the bars has not come to pass.

  1. Because we all know that nobody ever breaks the law when they have a gun strapped on.

  5. Liberty and freedom are spreading through the pro-carry movement.  While about the only area where we are gaining Liberty rather than losing it at the hands of repressive Democrats, it is nonetheless a welcome advancement.  My family and I will once again vacation in Tennessee this year for a couple weeks and I look forward to not having to disarm when we go to a restaurant that happens to serve alcohol.  Even here in the People’s Republic, many of us are now routinely carrying on a daily basis with no issues.  Way to go Arizona!

  6. Actually, only handguns are outlawed in bars in WI, and there is no law here against consuming alcohol while armed; the prohibition is on using a firearm while intoxicated.  In light of recent SCOTUS case law, I don’t think just going armed can be counted as “using” a firearm, either.  It doesn’t seem like we have too much of a problem with drunks at bars with rifles getting into fights here.

It’s always good to see another useless prior restraint law fall in the face of the Peoples’ rights.
