AGs Unite!

Good.

Texas attorney general Greg Abbott Facebooks: “I am organizing a conference call tonight for AGs across the country. We will discuss our litigation strategy about the healthcare bill. I will update you on Facebook after the conference call.”

One more reason to elect a Republican to Wisconsin’s governor’s mansion in November.  Wisconsin’s AG can’t participate in this without being told to do so by the governor or either house of the legislature.  That’s not going to happen as long as the Democrats control all of the levers.

  1. Are you sure it’s such a great idea to waste everyone’s money in such a lawsuit?  I’m pretty sure they won’t win, after all.

  4. I think this group has three legit arguments.

    1. Compulsory health insurance requirement

    2. Equal protection issues as it relates to the special deals for certain States and Counties in the Senate Bill.

    3. The question of what new unfunded mandates for Medicare/Medicaid, etc are pushed down on the States.

I’ll say we have a SCOTUS injunction within a week of this thing being signed.  And then months of legal briefs tying this thing up.

  5. Let’s hope the states push back hard on this issue (Go Texas!). Once this violation of our Constitution becomes law, I’d say that age old covenant will have been broken. Perhaps a push on 10th amendment rights will work…. there might still be support for the Constitution in the judiciary. I guess we will see.

The real problem in going forward is that we now have a nation that is completely and hopelessly divided and not operating on any solid set of basic laws. Apparently this is what the Democrat Party wanted… though I surely can’t explain why. Our national future seems to very dark tonight… I can only hope and pray that there are pro-Constitutional forces mustering to fight back against this disastrous move by the Democrat controlled House of Representatives. I do take some small relief in the fact that 15% of Democrats voted against this corrosive bill.

Kind of like the bookstore business Keith?

It seems most likely that most if not all the Democrat ‘nays’ were mere political calculation for re-election and not principled stands.  Where do you get your news?

  9. Feeling racist again Keith?
But the GOP can only blame themselves for this because of the 2008 elections.  Most people know what Obama and the Dem’s were going to do, but the GOP put piss poor canidadates.

  10. It’ll be tough to get a Constitutional challenge.

The mandates for most of these things don’t kick in for 4 years, so getting standing to challenge the individual insurance mandate won’t be possible until that kicks in and who knows what Obama can do to the Supreme Court by then?

Unfunded mandates again don’t kick in until Medicare gets expanded and that won’t happen for a while, either.

On the plus side, the taxes will kick in immediately and the federal deficit will briefly dip down. Of course those taxes will kill any chance of recovery, and the insurance pools and requirements will mean that nearly every small business will immediately drop health insurance for all their employees (if you’re paying someone less than $90K it’s cheaper to pay the penalty than to buy them insurance).

There will be massive short term disruption in health care due to this bill, and it will happen very quickly.

  11. Uh Dan you keep making that reference, but did ya ever guess—I’m white.

Go ahead GOP AGs. Repeal the pre-existing ban, the rescission, the parent’s insurance for young adults, the closing of the donut hole, the safety net in case you loose your job. Go ahead, make our day.

The fear that you have had all along, and God knows you love fear, is once this stuff is in place people will kind of like it, and kind of like the Democrats for passing it.

Go ahead and make our day.

How’s Wateroo working out for you right now?

By the way, keep mentioning the bookstore because in the vacuum of having a real argument childish slurs are all you’ve got.

I’ll keep making my points and you keep acting childish. The last I heard we are all entitled to our opinions (but not our own facts), even a failed bookstore organizer. I’ve learned something. I know none of you are in danger of any kind of that exposure.

It was a failed presidential candidate who got driven off the campaign trail by a combination of too-clever by half politicians and a supine “liberal” media for a trumped up charge of making a scream. He came back, devised the 50 state strategy and whipped your collective assess.

Are there two of you Keith? If not, I find that a very ironic thing for you to have written. Keith, meet the pot and kettle. They may not be white like you are, but I suspect you may have something in common with them.

  14. The healthcare program empowers the Federal Courts as well.

Don’t be surprised if a healthcare for guns law doesn’t start.

  16. Nothing would surprise me. Now that your health is a fiscal concern of the “taxpayers” (meaning of course the regime in Washington DC), anything that impacts it is, by extension, a concern of the government. Guns cost health care dollars… we must regulate and control. Fat people cost more than thin… regulate and control sugars and fats… regulate and control food consumption to be more inline with the government approved food pyramid. Motorcycle helmets, speed limits, smoking, drinking, gasoline fumes, coal power plant emissions… there is really no issue that can’t be formatted under the template of better health and saving taxpayer dollars. Tyranny is alive and well. Wait for it.

  17. Not gun control.  The individual mandate paves the way for a law in 2012 requiring you to purchase a handgun, assault rifle, shotgun and several thounds rounds for each member of your family or face a tax penalty and jail time.

Perhaps part of the job description for the 150,000 new IRS agents that will be hired for this bill.
