A Year Without Summer?!?!

I irrationally despise “Long Range Experts.”

According to Long Range Expert Joe Bastardi, areas from the northern Plains into the Northeast will have a “year without a summer.” The jet stream, which is suppressed abnormally south this spring, is also suppressing the number of thunderstorms that can form. The ones that do form in areas of the Ohio Valley and West are forming in places with very cold temperatures, which can lead to more electrified thunderstorms than normal this year.

This is so unfair.  Those of us who survived the wickedness of December by daydreaming about the blissful heat of August are going to need serious therapy.  Obama, I’m looking to you to sort this out: either pay for our mental health care or use your power to make it hot outside.

  1. I hope this comes true.  I would love a summer of 65 degrees!

  2. Not having to pay for air conditioning all summer would be great. If it never gets much above 70 all summer that would be awesome.

  3. Good point Bill… Of course, then WE Energies will have to charge some type of tariff in the fall to make up for the loss.  :\

  4. Climate Change.  Pretty sure, if this really happens, it will be somehow linked to CO2 emissions.

  5. I’ve been burning leaves, and driving my car all day to help you Wendy.  Go global warming.

  6. That’s it!  I’m heading out to buy a pre-global warming SUV, a wood burning stove, and a bunch of incandescent light bulbs!

  7. As someone who still lives in Texas, let me just remind Owen (if not you) that summer is a brutal, hellish thing, and for longer than three months. Between now and October, the only days when the A/C won’t roar constantly and you don’t get burned opening up your car door will be the overcast days. And there aren’t very many of them.

It’s not just pleasantly warm. It’s not balmy, or enjoyable in any sense of the word. Five minutes in the direct sunshine means your underwear will be soaked with sweat for the rest of the day. Ugh! I long for weather where you can open your windows, or sit outside for a while in comfort. I guess the grass is greener on the other side, or whatever. But every year I hate the heat more.
