Here’s a couple of hits from the MJS’ Daywatch.
A fare increase for Milwaukee County Transit System buses starts taking effect Wednesday, when tickets and passes go on sale at new, higher prices.
For adults paying full fare, weekly passes and sheets of 10 tickets will rise from $13 to $14 for regular routes, while a sheet of 10 Freeway Flyer tickets will increase from $16 to $19. Regular student passes will rise from $11 to $13.25. Pass and ticket rates will not change for riders who are older than 64, younger than 12 or disabled.
Expect the sky to fall and the earth to break open and swallow our civilization.
Or not.
A rationing plan for seats in Milwaukee’s controversial private school voucher plan will be imposed for next year, the state Department of Public Instruction said today.
DPI administrators sent a letter to the 130 schools that take part in the program and notified key players in setting policy for the voucher schools that the rationing will be necessary because the program will clearly exceed its cap set by state law. That cap is expected to be about 14,500 students for next year, a figure based on 15% of the enrollment in Milwaukee Public Schools.
Thanks governor. I’m sure that WEAC will rub your tummy for this one.
