MJS Advocates “No” to Sick Leave Referendum

The MJS editorial board gets one right.

Passage of a mandatory sick pay ordinance would place Milwaukee businesses at a competitive disadvantage and run counter to efforts to attract new investment to the city and expand businesses already here.

The concept of mandated sick pay sounds good, but the timing of the proposal couldn’t be worse. We urge a “no” vote.

Although I’m looking forward to an aggressive business recruitment effort by Washington County should the referendum pass.
