JFC To Look at Prevailing Wage Proposal

Once again, they are looking to further increase the cost of government.

The Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee will consider a measure to require construction companies to pay prevailing wages on jobs that get government support in a rare Saturday meeting.

Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle included the measure in his version of the state budget that the committee is now considering. Democrats who control the committee are expected to tweak Doyle’s proposal before forwarding it to the full Legislature.

The construction industry has decried the measure, saying it would drive up the cost of projects. Unions counter that the plan ensures workers get union-level wages, even if they’re not represented by unions.

When do you suppose they will get around to addressing the second largest budget deficit in the country?  After they finish making it worse?
