Energy Star Tax Holiday bill

Doyle and Lawton seem to be coming around to believing in the economic benefit of tax cuts.

Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton on Tuesday announced a new Energy Star Tax Holiday bill, which would designate one week each year for people to buy Energy Star-certified appliances without paying sales tax.

The tax holiday would cover the seven-day period beginning the Saturday before April 21. It would prevent sales tax from being assessed on eligible Energy Star-certified products during the period.

Appliances must cost up to $1,500 and must be for residential use. Examples of qualifying appliances include, but isn’t limited to refrigerators, dishwashers, programmable thermostats, washers, dryers and light bulbs.

Perhaps next they will recognize and an overall lower tax burden benefits people too.  Am I being too optimistic?
