UPDATE:
Not a single guess as of 1526. Hmm. OK. Here’s a hint as to why this location is historically significant—1976.
Congrats to Owen, again…

Not really a geographical location, but interesting nonetheless.

UPDATE:
Realizing that this one is über-difficult without a hint, the historical significance lies with the ship, not the geographical location.
Congrats to geo for doing the hard part an coming up with the ship. Congrats to Owen for his ability to Google “USS Pueblo.”
Details are in the extended entry.

This one should be a little more difficult, since it’s a close-in shot. It may be one of those that you either get immediately, or you never will. Here’s a hint—these islands don’t really have any historical significance, but they are a geographical oddity.

It’s time to try a little game. I’m fascinated by Google Maps, Google Earth, and Yahoo Maps Beta. Here’s my chance to share the love, and torture our readers at the same time.
So, on a semi-regular basis, I’m going to post a snapshot of a geographical location. Most will have some historical significance, so it’s not completely random (that would be really cruel). Give it your best shot. Winner gets a free one-year subscription to B&S.
