I completely forgot to post this with everything else going on, and now it’s TODAY!!! Head out there if you can.
Citizens of Fond du Lac County, it is time that all the concerned citizens and elected officials representing the City of Fond du Lac, County of Fond du Lac, and State of Wisconsin to shout with one very loud voice about the Wisconsin DOT and the HWY 151 Bypass project.
We waited for many years for the long-promised bypass only to see the ribbon of completion cut and the repairs begin. We were always told the money was not available. In 2005 Governor Doyle stole $427,000,000.00 using the “Frankenstein veto” to transfer money from the state’s transportation fund to the general fund. It only would cost around ten million dollars to add interchanges at Fourth Street and County V but we are told a study must be done and the money is not available for this project. So far the DOT has spent over 1.5 million dollars for the so-called repairs and improvements since the bypass was officially opened and pronounced completed.
With the promise of a completed HWY 151 bypass both citizens and businessmen began planning their lives around the bypass. Sub-divisions, homes, and businesses were built. Then came the accidents, injuries, deaths, calls for lights, speed reduction and repairs.
Let’s face it folks, Fond du Lac County was robbed. This project should have been done right the first time with full interchanges so our citizens and businesses could get on with improving our community.
Join me this Saturday, December 1st at 10:00am at Fourth Street Road, on the east side of HWY 151 for a “Reverse Ribbon Cutting” to tell Governor Doyle, our elected officials and the DOT “with one very loud voice” that this project will not be complete until the interchanges are installed.
