This is interesting.
Gov. Jim Doyle replaced Wisconsin’s longtime railroad commissioner with a state lawmaker Monday.
Out is Rodney Kreunen, a former real estate agent who has served as commissioner since Republican Gov. Tommy Thompson appointed him to the post in 1996. In is Roger Breske, an Eland Democrat who will leave the Senate where he’s served since 1990.
Kreunen’s term expired in March 2005, but he has continued to serve.
Doyle, a Democrat who took office in 2003, has held off on replacing Kreunen because Republicans controlled the Senate and likely wouldn’t confirm an appointment, former Doyle spokesman Matt Canter said last year.
