Assembly Resolution Wants People to Stop Saying “Swine” Flu

Seriously?  The Assembly passed a resolution about thisSeriously!?!?  There aren’t any more pressing matters?

State government and the media are being urged to stop using the term “swine flu” when referring to a strain of the influenza virus, under a nonbinding resolution the state Assembly is expected to pass Thursday.

The stigma is harmful to the state’s pork industry, said Rep. Phil Garthwaite (D-Fennimore), whose resolution encourages state agencies and media outlets to substitute “2009 H1N1 influenza” instead.

We seriously need a part time legislature.
