Doug Jones Wins Alabama Seat

I admit that my outrage machine has been broken over this whole race. I find myself just shrugging and saying, “whatever.”

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Doug Jones, a Democratic former prosecutor who mounted a seemingly quixotic Senate campaign in the face of Republican dominance here, defeated his scandal-scarred opponent, Roy S. Moore, after a brutal campaign marked by accusations of sexual abuse and child molestation against the Republican, according to The Associated Press.

The upset delivered an unimagined victory for Democrats and shaved Republicans’ unstable Senate majority to a single seat.

The most immediate impact of this is that the House is going to just pass the Senate version of the tax bill. I suspect that they won’t want to risk putting a final bill back through the Senate.

Well…..Jones won’t be seated until sometime in January, so are you worried about Senate defections based just on the fact that Moore lost?

  2. jonnyv

I am happy that Jones won. And if I considered myself part of the GOP, I would think that I wouldn’t be too sad that Moore lost. Moore was a bad candidate with a sketchy past that could look very bad for the GOP.

Now, I am going to sit back and hear the justifications about why they should vote on the tax bill before Jones gets into office. Shouldn’t the will of the people of Alabama have a say? Isn’t this a very similar argument to Obama nominating a supreme court justice? Now, I will sit back and wait for the mental olympics and justifications.

Other than the Senate bill already passed…

    Not too bright, are you?

  4. jonnyv

Paul… do you know how reconciliation works?

After the changes are made, the Budget Committees consolidate them into one bill that is voted on by both houses; it needs 51 Senate votes.

Wow. You make it too easy. I am glad you continue to just prove your ignorance time and time again.

  5. Paul

And with Pence, the GOP still has 51 votes.

So nothing really changed, did it?

    Constitution much, hydrocephalus?

  6. Kevin Scheunemann

This race represented the worst of America.   An accused child molester vs. pre-born baby killing exterminator.

Hard to claim there was a winning choice, other than not voting at all.

The only good thing from this race was: Democrats threw Al Franken on sacrificial fire to get Moore.

    That is a good thing.

  7. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

A little hyperbolic even for you,  “pre-born baby killing exterminator”?

While in no way apologizing for Franken, at least he had the stones to resign on his own, whereas Moore is still in denial.

  8. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

Jones advocates killing unborn babies, openly.

Truth hurts that we treat the alleged molester worse than the child killing advocate.

I wish there would have been a good write-in option.

  9. Paul

And Le Roy du Moore barfs up something idiotic.

  10. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

Well that is your opinion, but doesn’t hold much truthiness.  Folks in ‘Bama could have written in your name, or that of Strange, trumps original choice.

petite paul: You got nothing better?  Like facts?

  11. jonnyv

Paul. You are certainly a piece of work. Did you literally call me hydrocephalus? I am glad that I have thick skin, because a lesser man would be very upset. Do you want to take a WILD guess at the condition my 6 year old daughter was born with? Here take a look…

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/Q7rWfgbG3tRiFTjr2

Encephalocele with symptoms of Hydrocephalus. She is doing pretty good thanks for asking. She was able to walk without support at 3, and she is 6 years old now and is finally starting to recognize when she has to use the bathroom.

And still, I will give you a nice hug. You clearly need it more than anyone else.

  12. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

My “opinion” is a lot better for the health than unborn children than yours.

  13. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

Your opinion is still just tat, an opinion.  Needless to say it isn’t based on any facts.  No surprise.

  14. Paul

    Nobody cares, white nationalist troll.

The more you bully Kevin, I curbstomp you.

  15. Le Roi du Nord

    tiny paul:

No bullying by me, that is your realm.  I just try to get him to be a little more in touch with reality.  You on the other hand, are always trying to bully me and anyone else you disagree with.  See the “curbstomp” comment above.  You are no more intimidating than a single snowflake in a blizzard.

  16. Paul

Well, we did prove you to be a liar, Le Roy du Moore.

  17. Le Roi du Nord

And I corrected that mistake, apologized, AND donated to the Houston Red Cross in your name as penance.  You on the other hand are an unmitigated liar.

  18. Paul

    Receipt or it didn’t happen

  19. Le Roi du Nord

    pp:

That’s funny.  You make all sorts of unsubstantiated claims. And you want proof.  My word is as good as gold.

  20. Paul

Guess that donation didn’t happen.  Welcher.

  21. Le Roi du Nord

Sorry little fella, but you are wrong yet again.  Those seem to be lifestyles choices on your part.  But you are certainly free to do as you please.

Dead people voting, illegals voting … is this Chicago?  This is not from the tin foil hat crowd.  Alabama local and State voting officials are reporting problems.  Still, if the allegations against Moore are true, he should be in jail not the Senate but there are too many irregutlatires to ignore.

Over 18,000 servicemen absentee ballots just came in. 16,323 votes came across for Roy Moore while only 1,130 soldiers voted for Jones.

“Law enforcement stopped the vehicle at Santa Recto Middle School in Wilmington as 13 Hispanic men were seen piling into a van after voting,” the Santa Recto Observer reported Tuesday afternoon. “The same men were also seen in Smithfield, Birmingham, La Croix, and Mobile and were reported as suspicious by voting officials.”
Ladies of Liberty reports that the small town of Bordalama, Alabama was beset by fraudsters who apparently posed as dead people, bringing the vote totals to 953 for Roy Moore and 5,327 for Democrat Jones. There are only 1,867 registered voters in Bordalama.
“State election officials have determined that more than 12,000 votes  (that’s 5,329  more than yesterday) so far in the state of Alabama are null and void because the voters don’t appear to be living,”

  24. billphoto

I have been unable to confirm but news is Alabama State Police have arrested three women, Wanda Werkmeister, Olivia Pertuiary, and Maureen Brown, in Birmingham for allowing more than 3000 invalid votes for Doug Jones to processed through the polling station they had volunteered to operate.

Can this ALL be fake news?

  25. Pat

Yes this all can be fake news.

“There is no “Santa Recto Middle School” and at least two thirds of the supposed countries the immigrants supposedly came from (Mexico, San Salmos, and Puerta Gorda) don’t even exist. The entire story is false and appears to be a reworked copy of earlier stories about a van full of illegals voting (in different elections) on Reagan Was Right and The Last Line of Defense”

  26. billphoto

Should have known it was fake after CNN reported the 12,000 uncounted military ballots.

  27. Pat

Can you provide a link to that cnn story? I performed searches and can’t find that story on cnn.com.
    Thanks in advance.

Why Roy Moore just won’t concede
or broaden your perspective and try something new like Politico, Washington Times or USA Today.
Better, please stop with the troll bait.

  29. Paul

    Excellent take down, Bill.

  30. Pat

I read through that article 3 times and couldn’t find, where CNN reported the 12,000 uncounted military ballots in it.

It’s odd that I’m considered a troll when calling out false information, or as my parents would call them, “lies”.

  31. Le Roi du Nord

    Pat:

Great observation.  I wonder about that double standard as well.

  32. Pat

And Bill, you should know that The Ladies of Liberty web site you quoted from is a satirical news site.

    From their site:
“Ladies of Liberty is a whimsical playland of conservative satire.

Before you complain and decide satire is synonymous with “comedy”:

    sat·ire
    ˈsaˌtī(ə)r
    noun

The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

Everything on this website is fiction. It is not a lie and it is not fake news because it is not real. If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined. Any similarities between this site’s pure fantasy and actual people, places, and events are purely coincidental and all images should be considered altered and satirical.”

    Enough said.

  33. Paul

It’s not like it’s “three 500 year floods in a year.”

  34. Le Roi du Nord

Heylittle guy, I screwed up once, admitted it, apologized, AND donated money to the Houston red Cross in your name.  You on the other hand continue to spread unsubstantiated falsehoods about anyone you disagree with.  Pretty sad and sorry life you lead.

  35. Paul

    Nobody cares.

Owen would give the greatest present to us all by 86ing you forever.

It’s OK.  We all know it’s Scott Walker’s fault.
