EPA Rejects Attempt to Politicize Harvey

It definitely is a new day over at the EPA.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday rejected a contention by scientists that the historic rainfall from Tropical Storm Harvey was linked to climate change, calling it “an attempt to politicize an ongoing tragedy.”

Several scientists have said that factors related to global warming have contributed to increased rainfall from storms like Harvey, which struck the Texas coast as a major hurricane on Friday and has since triggered catastrophic flooding in Houston, killing at least 12 people and forcing tens of thousands from their homes.

“EPA is focused on the safety of those affected by Hurricane Harvey and providing emergency response support – not engaging in attempts to politicize an ongoing tragedy,” said EPA spokeswoman Liz Bowman, responding to a question about comments from the climate scientists.

A White House official said: “Right now, the top priority of the federal government as we work together to support state and local authorities in Texas and Louisiana is protecting the life and safety of those in impacted areas.”

You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before.” ― Rahm Emanuel
Wow! That’s like damning President Trump for going to Texas knowing that is he did not go, critics would go wild.

Good thing hurricanes don’t hit Wisconsin, white supremacist troll.  All the crosses you’ve burned can’t be good for the runoff.

Le Roi, thanks for the perfect example of trying to politicize a natural disaster.

“Houston’s flooding shows what happens when you ignore science and let developers run rampant , – according to quartz.com, that publishes factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes.” and obviously pandering to their audience.

Considering “Nearly 52 inches of rain have been recorded in Cedar Bayou, Texas, the National Weather Service reported on Tuesday – a figure that broke the continental U.S. record – as Harvey continues to hit the area. ”  Certainly something no city planner in America could prepared for but why let a serious crisis go to waste.

What is surprising is the mere whiff of criticism of an elected Democrat.  Shame, shame.

The other irony is the “loudness” of shouting I’ve been subject to about how Global Warming Climate Change is being proven by the strength of Harvey.  Any yet and single record cold winter cannot be used to refute Climate Change, as a single event is not the climate.   Hypocrisy in the highest order.

Houston has had three 500-year rain events in the past year.  You can look it up.

Now that alone doesn’t mean those 3 events were cause by CC/GW, but should give planners pause when developing in areas that would be flooded by the increase in storms of larger magnitude and intensity.   Sticking your head in the sand won’t make those floods go away.

Thanks Le Rue for another politicizing post. Keep up the good work.

Five dollars says this little piece of pig shit doesn’t have the balls to admit he was wrong.

Yup, you are right.  Typo on my part.  I’ll send $10 to the Houston Red Cross in your name..

Better yet…take your cheap political point scoring ass and get the fuck lost.

Shame.  Someone is lacking empathy.  Isn’t it heart warming to be in the company of President Trump?
