Where in the World – 13 Oct 14

Let’s try another one…

Congrats to Paulie Walnuts!

This is the former Theresienstadt concentration camp, is what is now Terezin, Czech Republic.  The Theresienstadt concentration camp was famously used as a show-camp by the Germans, and as the subject of a Nazi propaganda film.

That’s the infamous Theresienstadt concentration camp in the Czech Republic.

Of note: Gavrilo Princip — assassin of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary and his wife, the Duchess of Hohenberg — was imprisoned there from his conviction until his death in 1918.

Ugh, and I spent most of the afternoon running the Rhine and other French/Belgian/Dutch rivers looking for it.

Though, when Princip was there it was just the Terezin fortress. Took those other guys to turn into a konzentrationslager.

I was searching the same area as you, Cap’n. Nice one, Paulie!

Don’t know why but when I see the Vauban style I, for some reason, never think toward Central Europe even with the constant wars that still made it to there.

Certainly never would have thought to cross-check Nazi concentration camps.

Oh, and I know that that last smiley is supposed to be beating a dead horse but the horse has just enough markings to look like it’s a dead Hobbes being beaten. Not sure if I’m OK with that.

    Congrats, Paulie!
